Quotes That've Helped Our Marriage

I love a good quote just as much as the next gal. I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't draw inspiration from the words of others. With that being said, I wanted to share a handful of the quotes that I've found to be very helpful in our marriage. It's amazing how much truth (and wisdom) a single sentence can pack! These quotes have made me think and I've even found myself referring back to them time and time again over the years. I hope you'll draw the same amount of inspiration from these.

(1)
"The greatest marriages are built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of
admiration, and a never-ending portion of love and grace."
Fawn Weaver

(2)
"The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest."
 — Unknown

(3)
"A long-lasting marriage is built by two people who believe in -and live by- the solemn promise they made."
Darlene Schacht

(4)
"Love is a partnership of two unique people who bring out the very best in each other, and who
know that even though they are wonderful as individuals, they are even better together."
Barbara Cage

(5)
"A successful marriage isn’t the union of two perfect people. It’s that of two imperfect people
who have learned the value of forgiveness and grace."
Darlene Schacht

(6)
"You don’t love someone because they’re perfect. You love them in spite of the fact they’re not."
Jodi Picoult

(7)
"Marriage is a commitment- a decision to do, all through life, that which will express your love for one’s spouse."
Herman H. Kieval

(8)
"Don't aim for a perfect marriage. Instead, aim to have one that models God's love in the midst of imperfection."
Unknown

Are there any others that you could add to this list? I'd love for you to share!

  2. I had the following quote posted in our wedding website:

There is a difference between a wedding and marriage.
Make sure you want a husband and a life together,
not just a diamond and a party.

    It makes sense, right?

  3. "You are created in the image of God and so is your spouse, but your marriage to each other replicates the Whole image of God!"
"Marriage isn't about giving 50/50. Marriage is about selflessly giving 100/100, divorce is 50/50.
