Wednesday was a wet one. The clouds chose to split open early that morning; I woke up to raindrops tapping on our bedroom window. Whenever it rains, I get a little depressed. Don't get me wrong, I love a good thunderstorm if it's in the evening and I'm cozy on the couch with a good book. But waking up to it? It's always put a bit of a damper on my mood. Has anyone else experienced this before?
Lauren and I had made plans to visit the Oxford Exchange that day and we both decided that the rain wasn't going to hold us back. "You have to make your own sunshine", she said. And she was right. As soon as we stepped through the doors, wet umbrellas in tow, I knew we'd made the right decision. I had been wanting to visit this place for well over a year and it's just as neat as I imagined it'd be.
Oxford Exchange is a restaurant, bookstore, coffee + tea bar and retail store all wrapped up in one. The design, the ambiance, the food, the coffee. Everything was fantastic. I will admit, their prices were a little high but I found it to be worth the money. We walked around a bit whenever we first arrived, then had some lunch and explored the bookstore afterwards. I had a caramel cappuccino with the biggest club sandwich and stack of sweet potato fries in history. Lauren opted for the chicken burger (which was phenomenal).
As you can see from the photos below, we certainly "made our own sunshine" that rainy Wednesday!
