Goals for August

Well, dang it man! July has officially come and gone. I didn't finish every single thing on my list, but it was still a great month. August, on the other hand, is a month that I've both been looking forward to and partially feeling a little anxious about. G is starting school in about two weeks! Because of that, I'll be stepping up more in our family business (which is a wee bit terrifying). I know I'll handle everything alright, but it will just take some readjusting. I'm excited to see where the next few weeks take us.

(✘) Finish reading When I'm Gone.
(✔) Start my Christmas shopping.
(✘) Organize all of our important documents.
(✔) Put at least 10% of every check back into savings.
(✘) Buy tickets for Tampa Bay Comic Con.
(✔) Get back on track with eating right.
(✔) Catch up with friends.
(✔) Begin putting money aside to pay off student loans.
(✘) Go to the beach at least once.

Start + finish a new book.
I'm aware that I haven't finished When I'm Gone, but my interest in that book has slowly drifted away. I'm going to put it on hold and come back to it later. As for now, I'm gonna pick a new story to hop into! There are many on my Kindle begging to be read.

Visit Disney at least once.
We can use our passes again come August 12th. After being away, I'm ready for another Disney day!

Take my gun to the shooting range.
I've only shot my gun twice so far. Since I've had time to get familiar with it (learn how to strip it down + clean it), I feel now is the time to really start focusing on my accuracy / practice drawing. I'm still planning on getting my CWP by the end of the year.

Try to hit 10,000 steps a day.
I don't remember the last time I used my Fitbit Zip, but I need to start again. Both G and I have been doing great keeping track of our calories, but I'd also like to start being more active. Whenever I'm not working, I find myself sitting too often.

Keep up with blogging regularly.
I blogged more last month than any other month this year and I would love to keep that up if my schedule allows.

Go on a few family outings.
We were doing so well with this the first half of the year, but we've been slacking lately! Hopefully we can devote a couple days this month to getting out + exploring together. There are still so many local gems to check out.

Spend at least 30 minutes a day studying HTML / CSS.
Last month, I snagged a copy of HTML and CSS: Design and Build Websites off Amazon for a mere $12. I'm certainly not a newbie when it comes to HTML / CSS, but there are gaps in my knowledge since I've been teaching myself over the years. This book had great reviews and I know it'll give me the jump-start I need to better my web design skills. I'm still planning on going back to school in a couple years to earn a degree in web development (after G finishes), but this will help out in the meantime!

  1. That 10K steps a day goal is no joke! Three days in and I'm already tired hahaha. I'm hoping after this month I can make it a habit though, and hit that 5 days a week without having to try!
