2017 · Steady

There was a handful of words floating around my mind whenever we rolled into 2017. Mindful, intentional, thrive, bloom. One word, however, made the most sense in this season of my life ― steady. If any one of you knows me well, you would already be aware that I struggle with consistency. I have a tendency of starting out strong, but I also burn out very quickly. This is something that I've never liked about myself, something that needs to be addressed + overcome. I'm putting all my effort into tackling this in 2017.

Steady means to be regular, even, and continuous in development, frequency or intensity. That's my focus this year. To remain steady be it in my attitude, work ethic, studies, household responsibilities, or  fitness routine (wait, do I even have a fitness routine?). As you can see, this word can easily carry over to basically all aspects of my life. And I intend for it to do so.

With the start of my freshman year of college (woah, that feels so surreal to actually be typing out right now) quickly approaching, I feel that now is the most critical time to start honing in + focusing on this struggle of mine by adopting new habits to help push me to success. If there's one thing that going back to school will require of me (besides money), it's consistency. I often worry that my inconsistency will hold me back.

So, that's where I'm at. That's what I want to focus on for the next 12 months (heck, for the rest of my life). Have y'all decided on your focus words for the year yet? If so, let me know what they are in the comments!

  1. Looove it. Steady is an awesome focus word and one I can use in my own life as well. I am all about some beginnings but even if I don't necessarily give up, I just kind of let the important things fade into the background and my bad habits end up right back in the forefront.

Excited to read about how "steady" changes your 2017! :)

I love the word Steady. That is the word that my sister chose too :) Check out Psalm 119:33! Love how it uses the word steady :)

I hope this word finds you well throughout the year :)
